Subject: AT final drive oil sump gasket?
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

I just received the gasket for the final drive (diff.) oil sump cover on my '88 Westy. In scraping off the old one, it just looked like a plain cork gasket. The new one looks different, smooth on both sides and the edge doesn't look like cork. Did they change or improve these gaskets? Should I use (or not use) any additional sealant on both sides, such as Permatex Ultra Blue, which I just happen to have? I have read the directions for torqueing (7 FT/LB), diagonally, and two more times at five minute intervals. Any more tips, so I don't have any leaks? Thanks, Jerry
