You might take a look at the rollers on the sliding door. I do not know if they are interchangable, but if they are, you should be able to improve the sliding door on your 82. You'll have to pull both doors, of course to swap rollers.

Does your 82 have power mirrors? If not, you might want to swap front doors. The power mirrors are mounted using 3 bolts, while the manual mirrors only use 2. That will also make switching the body kit easier as the 88's doors will already have the skirts, and you won't have to put holes in your 82's doors.
