The speedoo on my 81 AC connects on drivers side.
Someone kindly put a little putty around clip/end of
speedo cable (that sticks out of cap). Likely to
*help* keep water out.

Although it's never happened to me, I *imagine* if
clip/pin was not installed, the cable could have work
its' way out.
