Vanagon Diesels were only 1982 and 1983.. depending on state registrations, it 'could' be a 1981 MFG (1982 model year) van

then theres always the possibility it's like mine.. 1980 Turbo Diesel vanagon with lower grill (engine conversion done by me.)
