Bad advice? Chris' advice to wait until a vehicle is 25 years old before importing it 100% legally is the best advice about importing vehicles I've heard here in a long time!

Chris,

Bad advice. It is against the law to sell a complete vehicle that was imported as parts. It is also illegal to register a "parts car" in the USA without performing a DOT and EPA certification. These are not opinions, just facts.

<snip>

remember people - vehicles over 25 yrs old can be legally imported into this country with relative ease. so being almost 2007, that means you can bring in a '80-'82 european doka without having to go thru all the customs BS.. just think, importing that rare '86 syncro 16" from europe will be a piece of cake in 4 yrs! so just sit tight and wait :<)
