Subject: Denver U-Pull-It Gigantic Bumper
Content-Type: text/plain; format=flowed

Mornin',

Somebody posted last week about some Vanagons out at Colorado Auto Salvage.

I was able to negotiate an hour (a very difficult thing to do with a 2 month-old at the house) in order to go out and have a look.

The '88 7-passenger has been picked over pretty good, but the wing windows are there, the front fiberglass bumper (black) is there, the grey middle seat appears to be intact, and the rear vented side windows are there. I wanted those side windows but didn't have the time (only one hour!) to mess with them.

The '81 aircooled is burned pretty good, but it has possibly the coolest rear bumper I've ever seen.

It's a single black 3 1/2 or maybe 4 inch diameter steel tube that, despite the fire, is in really good shape. The tow hooks are welded onto it, and it has a plate welded on with a tow ball hole.

I got the four bolts holding it to the frame off, but couldn't get it to come loose. It will move up and down, but won't slide out. It has brackets that slide into the frame itself.

So, if somebody wants a very cool, very unique bumper, grab a buddy (or two) and go see if you can get that hog off of there.

I, unfortunately, have used up my allotted junkyard time for the foreseeable future.

Joe T. Denver
