Subject: Very Dim Rectangular Square Headlights
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ascii

I know there have been endless threads covering dim headlights, but perhaps someone can offer advice on my particular case; - stock '87 Westy rectangular/square lights - Very dim indeed! I tried replacing the high/low beam bulbs with xenon blue bulbs. This changes the light from yellow to white but does not help visibility much. My next step is to install the relays and higher power bulbs. However, the glass lenses are very fogged and I think this may be contributing to the problem - Could this be dirt and if so, any suggestions on how to get inside the units to clean them? Thanks, Mike, '87 Westy P.S. for those of you with 80-85 round headlight models, here is what I did for my old '85 Westy; - Replaced the 7" sealed units with 'Sylvania Halogen Performance Plus' units (~$25 each from Kragen's). These are standard wattage, but have the 'whiter' light and better lenses. These improved the situation enormously, I decided that this was enough without installing relays/higher power bulbs
