roger.. the vent you are talking about is on EVERY AIRCOOLED vanagon. weather it has the gas heater or not. its not on the waterboxers. that floor vent is not part of the specific gas heater system.. therefore i dont bother taking it, and therefore the gas tank doesnt need to be dropped.
