Subject: hydraulic jack & jack stands
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

I have a new hydraulic floor jack of the SUV type, 2.5 ton, with 21" max. lift. Where are the best (as in safest) places to lift a Westy at all four corners? The saddle on the lift is not all that big. On the front, right under the socket for the OEM jack looks good, but not sure about the same place in the rear. Also have 3 ton jack stands, but again, the saddle seems to be the problem. If I put it under the cross-frame at the rear, the frame is resting up on the ears of the saddle, and that doesn't look very safe. And the cross piece at the front is way too wide for the saddle. Any tips and hints will be greatly appreciated. I don't want any VW chassis numbers permanently stamped on my body. Jerry in Arizona.
