When new the BFG T/A ko tires are surprisingly quiet for such an aggressive tread. However, as they wear they get substantially noiser (you might not realize it until you are in another vehicle with new ones.) No observable effect on fuel economy on the 14" size. Even when I was running the 15" version (215/75R15) with the stock engine, I really didn't notice any effect on fuel economy. But with a non-stock engine, the much larger diameter tire definitely affected my fuel economy (not just this tire, but other brands and styles.) Maybe that says something about the power band of the waterboxer engine.
