I'm gonna go out on an icicle here.... bet you still have 20w50 oil in it and no engine heater. At -22 C 20w50 has the consistency of thick honey. How do I know? I poured a cold liter on Wednesday when it was -29 C.

The oil pump is mired in this muck, the battery is running at about 40% efficiency and the cable resistance is higher. If it starts, there is little lubrication as the oil does not flow properly until it warms up. Once the engine is warm the oil is fluid and that resistance is gone. Hence the easy starts.

Get an engine heater, either an under pan one that will heat the oil or an in line circulating one in a coolant line that will warm the whole engine.

Only -8 here in Edmonton today after a week of -23 to -30 plus wind chill weather.
