Try inserting the key......turn it to the right (clockwise)....THEN push the button in with the key still turned to the right. Remember...turn the key first, then push it in. My central locking system is broken with the back hatch locked, and this procedure will unlock it. I see no reason why a non-central locker wouldn't work also....unless it is truly broken. As their is not a Volkswagen dealer within 100 miles of me I called The bus depot and was told that the lock and the other parts for the latch are no longer available does anyone have the parts to fix this rear hatch problem?

Thanks in advance for any help.
