You're going to have trouble looking for a source for a transfer case, since a vanagon syncro doesn't have one. The ringing noise you hear is most likely coming from the driveshaft and not the front differential. Many driveshafts ring like that when they engage and transfer power. It's not a signal of imminent failure. If it bothers you, install a new driveshaft and the problem should go away. Do you get a pronounced vibration between about 35 and 50 mph? If so, the driveshaft is worn out and needs replacing or rebuilding anyway. -Hans East Coast Vanagon http://www.vanaru.com ----- Original Message ----- From: "SKP" <skp@ONSHAKYGROUND.COM> To: <vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM> Sent: Friday, December 01, 2006 5:12 PM Subject: Front Transfer case on an 87 Syncro
