a correction: a simplified definition of pH: higher pH number is more basic; pH is defined as the negativ logaritmic concentration of H+ ions (in aqueous solution): pH of 0 (concentration of H+ is 1 molar) is the most acidic one, a pH of 7 (concentration of H+ = OH- = 10E-7) is neutral and the highest pH is 14 (concentration oh H+ is 10E-14) which is most basic
