RE: Missing float valve in the carb BTDT, but not me, the carburetor rebuild shop that sold me the carburetor. Replaced the carburetor on a '62 Valiant. Did it right in the parking lot of the carb rebuild shop/store. Turned the engine over, gas all over the place but no fire in my case. Had the guys in the shop come out and look at it. Very heated discussion IIRC. They pulled the 'new' carb, put on another, I drove away leaving them with a sheepish look on their face. But a scary experience way, way in the past.....
