Subject: Diesel (AAZ) engine conversion questions
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1

Hi all.

Been a while since I've posted, so I thought I'd say hi and generate yet more discussion on engine conversions. He he! So......

"hi!"

and......

Did a lot of reading in archives/recent threads to determine which engine conversion is best for me. Am really leaning towards the 1.9 diesel AAZ NA. The subie would be way cool, but I really want to get away from burning gas.

Although the diesel doesn't offer much more HP than the 2L AC, I've read that a gain in HP can be achieved with different injectors. What is the % increase? Are these injectors commonly available? Are there any other reliable "bolt on" mods that would increase HP?

I'm pretty sure I'd have to modify (raise) the engine cover if I use a 15 deg. mount. Is a 50 deg. do-able and will it harm the engine to be mounted at that angle? Or is there a better way to use the 15 deg. mount so that engine cover can stay as-is.

FWIW, although my desire to stay away from using a TD is possibly based upon a certain amount of ignorance, my goal is to keep things as simple/reliable as possibly. Especially since I'm already into more than average work converting an AC van!

Dreaming of helping Mother Nature, better mileage, and real heat,
