What freeze plug? Are you talking the rubber plug inside the CV joint flange? This is an oil seal. It stops the gear oil that would travel through the splines on the stub axle. Popping out can be a sign of excess pressure in the gearbox or just a bad fit. I now glue them in. Dennis
