I've always viewed the inner lights on a South African Grille to be additional "High beams". Terminology does serve to confuse the issue, though, as my 2000 Beetle has "Driving lights" which are small lights in the grille (below the headlights). Once switched on, they're on with both brights and dims. I don't normally use them and think of them more as fog lights. Mike |
