I saw an old writeup for the early Rabbit. It said "not an ounce of fat".If you look one over carefully,it is true. Not an ounce. My friend bought a 1977 Rabbit, new. This was when American cars and the honda civic played catchup to the Rabbit. That Rabbit got 35mpg with a full load of drunk people.Accellerated as the fastest producton car in America(so my friend said). He got a Hurst T shift knob to put on the rabbit stick shift rod. Needed it.What a car!! I saw a new Camry today. Brand new.Just awful.A super big vinyl covered bumper that streached to the front doors.I have absolutely no doubt this is a great car,but somehow, most has been lost. Thats what I see.Roger |
