"There is a lot more to Canadian Tire than Tires", in fact that mantra even became a ad slogan for them for a while. It is an interesting part of Canadian Culture check out:

If I had to compare them to a US retailer they are kind of like Wal-Mart or Target but with an emphasis on Automotive, Home, and Garden.

One of the most interesting things about Canadian Tire is "Canadian Tire Money", you get a percentage of your purchase back in currency that can be used again in store. No self respecting Canadian has less than a few bucks in Canadian Tire money kicking around in a drawer somewhere at home.
