There's several vendors of 12V Xmas lights (now that LEDs are bright & cheap).

A couple of years ago this was not the case - I went your route and rewired
regular bulb lights in parallel/series. Very colourful it was!

Jerry,  Thanks for the 12 volt site.  What I really need at this time of year is a source for 12 volt Christmas lights.  I want to decorate the inside of the vanagon.   I bought 4 sets of battery (3 volts each) operated lights and I'm in the process of combining them into the proper series/parallel arrangement that works with my 12 cigarette lighter.  I'd love to just buy as set that is designed for this.  If anyone has a source for holiday lighting for the vanagon, please pass it on...

The recent question about removing the stereo reminded me of this site:

You have to register to get to the best stuff, there are ads, but everything loads
fast.
There is a MASSIVE (sorry for  the caps :)) amount of information about everything
relating to vehicle audio, alarms and cruise control, and yes, there is information
relating to Vanagons (RVC). From the most basic electronic concepts to the most
technical. And if you can't find what you need, there are forums where you can ask.
