Hi,

Hello there.Lots of interesting information in the archives on Westy sag. It is said that the reason for this sagging of the rear end is from the lopsided weight distribution of the westy interior. The fix, however, is not so clearly seen in the archives.I didnt check all the entries, but I did for most.I still see this problem questioned, today, on the list. The lopsided distribution causes an overloading of the drivers side rear spring. My 85 westy has this affliction. Had it when I got it at 154K. Many early Westy have it. I went top the local Vw dealer and got a spring chart that tells what springs are used in which Vanagons, and which can be used to correct the sag. Turns out that the same spring is used for both 7 passenger and the Westfalia.A blud dot spring on the 85.Seems like a low mileage spring from a 7 passenger can fix this sagging(for awhile).I just happen to have a couple 7 passenger rear springs ,avaliable.
