The thermostat only controls the temperature of the outlet air, not the cabin temperature. You do, of course, want to make sure the whole system is in good condition and working properly. I'd very strongly recommend a carbon monoxide detector. Fuel consumption is minimal, a BA6 running on full is specified to use about 2.5 pints per hour (2.5 gallons/8 hours). Gasoline is a pretty compact fuel source, containing about 125,000 BTU/gallon. Propane is about 91,500 BTU/gallon (diesel and kerosene are up around 140,000). |
