Not so artsy fartsy here. History and English teacher. I suppose I need to be creative every day on the job. I was raised in a family who took vacations each summer in a camperized Econoline. My father flipped a couple of Beetles in the early 70s (he still tells stories of the 'automatic stickshift') so I got the VW 'bug' early. My first car was a VW Type 3 squareback, followed by a honday, and then my 69 Type 2 Westy - ahh - that I bought for my second summer of tree planting in the BC interior. I rebuilt that engine and then left to teach ESL in Korea and sold stored the van for two years before delegating to my father the job of selling it. Ever since returning from overseas, I have looked at Westies enviously and finally decided to take the plunge again and found my current ride - an 88GL Westy - parked on the side of the road with a 'for sale' sign in its window. Ah - I followed my heart and am now a happy member of the VW community again.

Darren Birch Vancouver BC - where there are too many vanagons to wave at.
