Chris, I'm sure you can sell your precious jailbars without having to stoop so low as to disparage a competing product that you've never actually seen.

I already corrected you yesterday, quite politely, when you provided this misinformation to the list regarding the Just Kampers Vanagon jailbars (which, incidentally, you have never seen nor tried to install). At that time I assumed it an honest mistake. Yet, inexplicably, you repeat it today, even more forcefully. Let me see how clearly I can put this. The Just Kampers jailbars for the Vanagon are specifically designed to fit a Vanagon, and they do fit. Contrary to your "sight-unseen" claim, you do NOT have to "bend a few parts this way and tweak a few that way" to make them fit. You just have to screw them on, and that's that. My first shipment sold out quickly and I had no complaints about the look _or_ the fit. I don't know how I can state this any more plainly.

I don't think you have to resort to slamming other products sight-unseen in order to sell your used jailbars. $75 is a reasonable price, and I'm sure there are a couple of people who will gladly pay that much to get a used original set rather than a new aftermarket set.

I will have to look at a set to answer whether the mount at the bottom of the post of the Vanagon version is the same shape as on an original German one, or how bright the finish is. I didn't answer your question immediately because as I already said, I'm out of stock on them until Tuesday so I don't have a set to look at until then. (And even if I did, I can't say I'd rush out to my shop over Christmas weekend just to find out. This isn't exactly a life-or-death matter.) I don't think the majority of Vanagon owners are nearly as concerned about this sort of minutia as you are anyway, but for those who are, I would certainly recommend a used original set.

Slamming other people's products for your own personal gain is beneath you and beneath this list. You will notice that the other vendors here (and yes, you are a commercial vendor, as you part out Vanagons for profit) treat eachother with respect.

It's a waste of everyone's time, including mine, to get into a pissing contest over jailbar minutia. I'm sure Chris' used jailbars are in great shape (he's very fastidious about his parts), and anyone who wants a used original set should definitely buy them.

Take a deep breath, mellow out, and have a merry Christmas!
