In my opinion, artsy-fartsy doesn't mean anything except to 1) dismiss the creative as something silly and 2) among the creative in the way the N-word is often used in rap music lyrics... "oh, don't take me too seriously, I'm just fartsy."

Few are comfortable saying "I'm creative" the way they might say "I can bench press so-and-so" or "I'm a good shot" or some other physical or mental ability.

This thread makes for interesting reading, but there are so many people on this list, I'm not sure we've spotted a trend. Creative folks may actually be in the minority!

I also hope that doctors, firemen and cops don't drive Vanagons. It matters too much that they get to work. : )
