My Type 4 mechanic recommend throwing away my stock exhaust (which included a catalytic converter) in favor of a Bugpack header & muffler combo. Not only in the interest of power, but apparently for lower cylinder head temps.

Since I added the CHT guage after the exhaust upgrade, I can't be too sure of this.

Outside temp during trip ~ 50 degs. 1 hour long trip. Full loaded w/ family of four and full propane & water tanks. Downshifting to third under 55mph.
