Sigh. As if any vanagon shop could afford to be anywhere near Harvard Square these days. The Republic of Cambridge is still interesting, but it's also awfully chi-chi and yuppie and all that stuff. And the Marxist grocery store on Oxford Street has turned into a trendy cafe, or something like that.

On the other hand, to my great surprise I came across a delightful VW place just a mile or so from my house - in Virginia, that is, not in the Republic of Cambridge! Called Bugs and Bunnies. Owned and run by an elderly man who clearly should have retired decades ago, but he and his doctors agreed that if he ever stops working he might just drop dead. Poor fellow, he seemed so stiff and achy that I felt bad for him, trying to do anything on the great crowds of VWs inside and outside his shop.

Alas, he doesn't work on vanagons. Only on bugs and bunnies. Poor Matilda, I thought I'd found her a good friend and someone with the wisdom to handle all of her little pains and crochets. But if anyone in the DC area needs help with a bug or a Rabbit, and you can get him to work on your vehicle before he goes on to vanagonaut heaven, he seemed like a great find! On Wilson Boulevard in Arlington, half a mile or so east of Ballston.

Joy
