Subject: NOTICE about "REPRO jailbars" some new parts vendors are selling
Comments: cc: vanagon@yahoogroups.com

just a heads up.. the '79 down Bus rear "jailbars" have been reproduced, and are being sold by Just Kampers and some other online vendors. NOTE.. these are not the same jaibars as the vanagon jailbars..

aside from having longer horizontal polished aluminum tubes, the center vertical post for the jailbars is completely different from the '79 down bus versus the 80-91 vanagon.

the 79 down BUS center vertical post is completely vertical, and the bottom part where it screws to the hatch has 3 screws and the base is a "spade" shape.

the vanagon center vertical post has a SQUARE shaped base and uses 4 screws where it mounts to the hatch.. and the upright part that supports the tubes is on a angle to conform to the angle of the vanagon rear hatch glass. the original jailbars are solid highly polished aluminum, not chromed metal.

just a heads up..
