In a nutshell, I agree. And if I were King for a day....

Interior "distractions", and thoughts of a mostly false sense of security, would be gone. All drivers would realize that anything can happen on the road. All would pay attention and there would be manditory driver training for new drivers with properly qualified instructors at "the helm".

People need to keep learning no matter what they are involved in. Work, whatever. So driving is no exception. Drivers should live and learn.

And speaking of camper designs (again I'm still "King" ---- ;^)

My van would have:

air bags, properly positioned steering wheel, ABS, simple reliable I4 engine (pref. diesel) 5 spd man., simple gauge layout, and though inconvenient, manual windows, locks and no extra frivilous elec. BS.

Camper:

One LP burner, fridge, LP heater, no wardrobe cabinet (wider bed. maybe put some tall storage behind pass seat??) water tank, solar panel(s), and rack above stove would have a lid of some kind to keep things from potentially flying forward.

You know a safe, simple diesel powered camper.

Maybe a custom camperized Sprinter? --- ;^) (yes they're not simple!)

Neil.
