This is Dennis using a different e-mail address. Trying Hot mail for

The injector is nothing more than a coil, like a solenoid valve. All of the
injectors are ultimately connected in parallel. When the fuel pump is on,
+12v is connected to all of them. The ECU operates them by switching the
return or ground. I have never seen one of the coils short out. It is
possible that a bad connection in the socket caused one to arc and burn up.
THe contacts in the socket do weaken, corrode, etc. There are a number of
options for repairing the sockets. I like to get the new style sockets and
pre crimped pigtail connectors as these make future repairs or testing
easier. I like the larger releases to get the connectors off.
