Just a heads up for you guys with 83-85 & that stuoooopid plastic H pipe off the reservoir Of couse I have a winter trip starting today, The pipe started leaking Thr, so I paid the overnight shipping cost & I ordered the metal H pipe from an online vendor looks like they all get the same one from these guys at Always V-dub (503)235-2757 it arrived as promised Friday I had a new resivoir so I got the new rubber to connect the H pipe to the resivoir & new clamps I installed it in 30 mins but the metal H pipe has no pipe flare on the end that connect to the H to Metal Water Pipe/H to Water pump (I can see why they just dont flare the end properly to get closer to oem) so as soon as I had it install a small drip drip from the H to water pump & cranked up the hose clamp but no good, I cut back the old pipe stillno good (the pipe was still flexible, good shape but the plastic pipe a some good sized flared ends and the coolant line had sat on the flared end for some years not 22 :) ) call the dealer / local flap well that pipe is NLA ... TRIP looks like it off :( But since the trip was on the line I get desperate I get plumbing adapters & make the frankinstein rube goldberge contraption that is leak free but I'll need to order from the on line vendors a real pipe when we get back
So the heads up if that H pipe start leak order all the new coolant line that it connects to & new clamps you will have a 60 mins repair that will not leak last ... ps. Also consider a new reservoir at the same time if that H pipe wnet the res might not be far behind |
