Dan, I nor anyone else has heard a peep from you on this subject for days.
See copied messages below. What we want to know is:
When are you going to repair Max's muffler ?
As soon as he sends it to me or he gives me an address to send his brackets
to.
How your going to repair Max's muffler ?
Weld on the new brackets as required and check over the rest of the muffler .
How your going to rebuild confidence in the Vanagon community so I can sell
your mufflers ?
I will continue to warranty the mufflers like we always have. I will post a
response on the net outlining out warranty and our commitment to it.
How your going to compensate me for lost business and time ?
Frank, please be more specific here. You have sold between 10-20 mufflers
each year for the last ten years. Are you saying you won't reach these totals
this year? Do you require some help in reaching these totals?
This message from STEBRO arrived soon after the above so I'm including it
here:
Hello, my name is Dan Petschenig and I am the owner of Stebro PSD Ltd.
I have been asked by Frank Condelli to clarify our product warranty due to
some bracket cracking that has occurred on some Vanagon muffler units.
First of all, these brackets were well designed but could not handle the
excessive vibration on some Vanagon engines. The brackets cracked at a stress
point and either require to be rewelded or replaced. We have produced new
brackets that will handle the excessive vibration found on some Vanagon engines.
Our warranty is very simple and is clearly stated on our web
site.(_www.stebro.net_ (http://www.stebro.net/) )
Send us the muffler in question and we will repair it and send it back to
you at our cost. If you can't send it to us, we will send out new brackets to
you at our cost. Due to the variables involved(quality of work, cost of work
etc), we will not cover any labour costs outside of our production facility.
Stebro has a lifetime warranty on all of their products and we stand behind
it. I will include a copy of warranty below.
Regards,
Dan Petschenig
Stebro
Life Time Warranty
All Stebro products include a Life Time Warranty which covers any premature
system failure for as long as the customer owns the car. Stebro will repair
or replace the system for the original purchaser at Stebro's expense. Stebro
is committed to stand behind all the products we produce and strive to achieve
customer satisfaction. Special circumstances such as poor installation,
product abuse or engine malfunctioning may limit or void this warranty.
Warranty Returns
All systems that require warranty work are to be sent to our North American
production facility. The original purchaser is required to remove and return
the system at their own expense. Stebro will cover the cost of the warranty
repair or replacement including the shipping costs back to the customer. In
some cases, Stebro can provide a temporary system to ensure minimal down time
for the vehicle involved. Stebro will require a deposit in these cases to
ensure the return of the tempoary system.
When a Stebro system requires warranty work, please contact our customer
service with your original invoice information, and you will receive a
WRN(warranty return number). A WRN is required for all returns.

Dan Petschenig
