Volks... On a 250 mile roundtrip voyage a whining started while under load...starts somewhere around 30 mph, continues until up to speed and pitch increases with speed of vehicle, not of motor...leads me to believe something in the tranny...The whining only happens when under load...when I kick out the clutch it goes away and when I let off the gas it goes away... A precursory search of the archives and I found that someone had a whiny tranny and was going to replace a pinion bearing...does this sound right? Otherwise, what other trees should I bark up in the problem solving fiasco... What's involved in getting to this mystical pinion bearing? Am I yanking the tranny again...might as well put in another clutch?!! Or is my tranny getting toasty? Thanks in advance!!!
