Mark,
I forgot to mention I did buy a high lift jack and needed some sort of
extension to get it away from the side body panels.
I bought one that is available at the samba, and it works well.
I think it was $39.00.
The Van Café is something like $49.00 for the same item.
You can save yourself $10.00,and they are not back ordered from the vendor
who has them avaialble.
The VC's has them on a back order right now, and has seemed to be for some
time now.
This is why I went shopping and found a bargain.
Ron

Subject: High Lift Jacks
I got that 48 inch model of cast/steel, and its so big... kinda hard to tuck
away in a Carat... but I don't want to go back to the stock jack... nor did
I like the scissor jack from Bus Depot... (too awkward... ).. so... I was
looking at http://www.hi-lift.com/products/jacks.htm and ... noticed that
all cast is said to be their more durable... but smallest in that is 42
inches... and in their cast/steel they offer a 36 inch jack...
So is their any reason why a 36 inch jack from High Lift couldn't be just as
useable with a vanagon, as would a 48 inch jack... ???
I'm going to get that adaptor for the high lift once Volkscafe gets them in
again... so it doesnt scratch my van...
And plan on storing the jack in a rear-facing tool / multipurpose
cabinet/chest with drawers behind the drivers seats... 60 wide, 24 deep, and
though I wanted only 18 high,,, its going to be maybe 28 inches tall... the
jack will fit in a cubby, behind the bottom 3 drawers, essentially being in
a 'drawer within a draw' design, ie pull the main bottom drawer out, and the
cubby comes with it... so ... since the high lift I have needs 10 inches of
height, and 6 inches of depth... having a shorter jack will allow more space
in the cubby, for storing 9 inch tall quarts of oil and atf... oh.. gee keep
forgetting about those 4 ton jack stands...
