A broken muffler bracket can generate a lot of private email, that's for sure!!

Since getting a new muffler with the improved brackets hasn't been offered yet, I'm thinking that a shade tree approach will have to do until it warms up outside later in the Spring. I'm thinking of crafting an 1/8" thick piece of angle iron just enough longer than the height of the square muffler so as to be able to drill a hole in each end that would have two pieces of all thread or 2 long bolts to clamp the muffler to the engine hanger mounts on the one side and than have either a flat bar or another piece of angle iron up against the rear vertical surface of the muffler to create some sort of cage bracket and after careful tightening of the threads, maybe that will hold things in place until it warms up outside and I get a chance to remove everything and fix it properly. This repair should be able to be implemented without removing the muffler from the van.

Anyone interested in a used Stebro Vanagon muffler after it gets it's "new and improved" brackets welded into place? Eventually it will go on ebay if things don't take a change for the better here shortly. What's a used one worth out there?
