Happy New Year everybody!

Well we made it back alive Sunday afternoon from our three-national-
park-tour. Over 3,000 road miles traveled.

Thanks to everybody who replied to my earlier questions about
traveling to Death Valley, etc.

Some observations: Don't let anybody tell you Death Valley is certain
to be balmy in winter; the temp went below freezing each night. At
Zion it went well below freezing *and* had scads of moisture in the
air. And, here's a tidbit i totally overlooked: Bryce Canyon is over
8,000 feet above sea level. If you go there in winter, even a mild
winter, be prepared for COLD! It dropped well below zero the one
night we stayed near the canyon. At the visitor center the first
piece of tourist propaganda we read began "Bryce Canyon has over 200
days of below freezing temperatures per year." We had to get a motel
room as we were not equipped for below zero camping. My Vanagon
doesn't like cold weather.

We only met one other couple traveling in a Westy, and only saw one
other Westy on the road.
