Ric, Check the archives. There are lots of suggestions regarding spacers and other window cranks (Ford Taurus) that may solve your problem. I used cranks from an A2 (late 80's) Jetta in our van. I was able to match the brown interior of our '85. You can also try to slightly modify the grill on your speakers to give an extra 1 or 2 mm of clearance. George '85 Westfalia
