Well I am glad my post was worth a good laugh :-) I picked up the syncro in pretty poor shape from a used car lot. Did some work to get it going and replaced some rubber bits in the engine compartment to help keep things sealed up a little better before I took it in the water. I wanted to test it out before I went to the local off-road park with the jeep club. As you can imagine they do some pretty wild stuff. I had someone there to pull me out if I had gotten stuck and I really wouldn't be out too much if the syncro had drowned. I never had any major problems keeping up with the jeeps (no rock crawling of course), but every time I went out I broke an exhaust pipe or two.
