Thanks for your response Bob,
I know this is not rocket science here.
I have been in the maintenance trade
(rebuild) since 1976 (Detroit Diesel Allison).
What I'm looking for is a well built
engine with preferable OEM or better
parts. I of course want the engine to
last a lot of years with trouble free
mechanicals. I'm not looking for a HOT
ROD engine by any means, just a stock,
or close to stock engine with OEM tolerances
which will push me down the road and up mountains in the
west(CO,WY,UT) during Summer months. I would
like to have any improvements offered which
will increase performance(larger valves, etc) however I do not
want to increase pressures in the engine which
will contribute to abnormal wear and damage.
I'd like to be able to burn 87-91 octane fuel
without having pre-ignition/detonation problems.
Typically in the west low grade fuel is 85(ethanol)
mid grade 87 and premium is 89-91(and expensive).
If I knew where I could find a good engine core
I would have already started on this project myself.
I would like to have a new engine installed by
late March. I intend to hit the road for Moab
late April sometime.
Oh, by the way- do you offer a turbocharged
engine??
Thanks,
Jerry

Jerry et all
Go westys warrantee should be read carfully it covers catasrofic failures
after the frist year as I recall
And what is the chances that go westy would take responcablity for that 3
years down the road once they have had a chance to do the otopsy.
As far as the pistons I can offer you german piston or Cofap
nobody has ever told me they felt any differance in performance or milage
and I feel that the slightly lower compression is more in line with the gas
availible today.
Lucas At Go westy also spends alot of time going over the AMC problem as if
came up with it or the solution I was discussing it on this list long before
he thought to right about it.
I find it interseting that Jerry at seattle con rod only sells to aproved
installers. Getting people to understand that its not a plug and play
install has been a lifes work for me
you have heard from a few west coasters that I know of
