---Kenneth,
Thanks for the input. I too would build
my own but all things considered I think
it would be better for me to buy from a
reputable builder and swap my engine out.
I've usually found out that someone like
Boston Bob is fully equipped, tooled and
has the knowledge to address all the idiosyncrasies
of building the 2.1 engine. There are some
services that he offers that I would not be
able to do myself(oversize valves, ported heads,
modified camshaft, etc). I figure by the time
I got through building myself and paying for
comparable parts/services such as he(Boston Bob)
is providing I would have several more KKKK $$$$ invested.
I think BB also provides at least a 12 month warranty.
I know Gowesty provides a 48k/48m warranty.
I don't know which pistons BB uses. I know Gowesty
has someone make their pistons. If I bought OEM
pistons/liners and cylinder head modification I'd
end up with more money in the project.
I usually conquer things myself and I never
let anyone else work on my vehicles but considering
the downtime and cost factor I think I'd be better
off buying from either Gowesty or Boston Bob.
I haven't received any feedback about Gowesty.
All posts have been positive for Boston Bob's.
I wonder if any west coasters are reading this
thread?

Jerry,
I have heard good things, over the years, about Bob Donald's {aka Boston
Bob) engines. Check the archives. Personally I would build my own.
