Does anyone have a radio for sale that I can just plug into the connections that came with the 87 Jetta I just bought? (I don't really care about cassettes one way or the other.) I am about to give up on the unit that came with the car. As you know from my previous query, it is locked in safe mode. Many list members offered helpful hints. I actually found a web site that offers to find the code for $39 and I took it to a local dealer who would have done it for free, as several suggested ..... BUT the top and bottom cover plates are missing, so the serial number is also nowhere to be found! There are many numbers stamped on the thing, but none, according to the local service guys, is the serial #.
Thanks,
