A question has arisen in the rebuild of the auto transmission in my son's 87
Westy.  Hopefully I can ask it correctly.


Does anyone know the mechanism used in the fluid drain assembly of the
intercooler on the top of the AT?


The auto tranny rebuilder is stumped as to how it controls the AT fluid
flow... particularly as it pertains to the torque converter. That is, the
torque converter seems to continuously loose fluid to the cooler. Is this
normally controlled by a check ball assembly until pressure is built up?


Is it a spring and check ball set up?


The tranny shifts fine, after it's once warmed up.
