I've heard of people filling the case with transmission fluid and *idling* -- nothing more -- until warm to loosen up stuck rings, etc. but I would not think this is a good idea and I would not do it unless my next step was a rebuild anyway.

A couple of changes of Mobil 1 oil will clean out any sludge fairly well.
