Jim, in the next few days, including today, i'm changing 3 panels, the rear passenger (wheel arch-from sliding door rail to wheel), the lower skin of the sliding door and the infamous lower center DRIVER panel (over propane tank), i will do a full section in English and French on the subject.

This is my Red Tornado project page (This page is in French for now = will be for sale localy, well, i may keep the van... not sure)) for now but will be bilingual soon: http://www.benplace.com/85westy2.htm

this is the panel section (bilingual): http://www.benplace.com/panel1.htm

The panel ARE NOT welded! but glued!(well, i may use the mig on some spots, noit sure for now) i will also post all tools and material used to do the job... tonigh, thursday, i should already have done the rear left section.

Part (skins) WERE NOT available in Montreal and were bought at www.cip1.com, they are german made, quality and fit lokk pretty good for now, that, we will se later, the cost is nothing! they are not expensive.

The panels have to much dammage to be fix, it's way faster and way more nice and solide to change those when possible.

The rear one is a first foe me, so i'm doing this one first, second will be the left side center one.

Cheers, Ben http://www.benplace.com/vw2.htm

---------------------------------------------------------------------- I've been told there is ready made (to weld) panel to replace the rusted passenger side panel(s) at the bottom seam, over the propane tank on an 87 Westy. Anyone know the source to get this, what it is called, or a part number?

Many thanks!

Jim Creech
