Yes - the York compressor - that was it! Thanks Ben.

I agree in terms of return for your time and/or money, a $9.95 12V compressor can't be beat, even if you carry a second as a backup. I have a $19.95 model which automatically shuts off when reaching the set pressure, and I think it's very handy. But... I've decided not to hook up the AC on my vanaru and hate to have a perfectly good compressor sitting there doing nothing - or a big empty spot on top of the engine. Since this sort of compressor does not have its own oil supply, though, it really isn't suitable for air-compressor use. I was hoping perhaps the old thread would say they used an in-line oiler (like for air tools) to solve the lubrication issue, but I guess not.
