Frank, it you ever figure it out please let me and the list know. Mine started doing the delay into 3rd gear when cold immediately following a fluid change and changing to synthetics did not help. I think the governor controls shifts into 2nd and 3rd so I don't think it is that but I checked it anyway, I checked linkages but once warm it shifts perfectly so I'm not sure that is the issue. Someone else suggested changing the accumulator piston so I did that too, no change. Mine has done this for 5 years now with no change but I did alter my startup route to include a good warmup before hitting a long downhill on the highway. My next try might include swapping the transmission from my old Audi after I drove it to the wreckers.
