Subject: 1985 Vanagon - clutch is out?
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"

My daily driver Vanagon "lost" its clutch on the way to work last week?

-Driving along VanHappy

-Then..Syncronizer noise going into 3rd, then 4th gears...

-The difficulty shifting into ANY gear!

-Now cannot move van unless put in gear before you start..

-I no longer can shift any gears while engine is running.

My brake/clutch fluid is high and on the mark.

When clutch pedal is pushed to the floor, the slave cylinder arm moves about 1.5 inches (at the bellhousing).

*I want this to just be a slave cylinder and not a pressure plate issue?

No noise when I drive the van now just cannot shift gears...

Any other option for my trouble other than pressure plate (2-3-4 yr. old HD when installed?).

Thanks for any advice...

Larry
