I wanted to thank you for your help on getting my 1983 waterboxer road worthy. I completed a 800 mile round trip yesterday without having to add coolant, oil, or a problem. This was my first in a Vanagon, and I must say it is comfortable. My only complaint was the lack of cruise control and the pedal angle, but the fuel tank capacity, and fuel burn is just a right to get out."love those armrests) I ran into an constant drive over the road courier, who explained how to get over long haul driving. Every fuel up they jog in place, jumping jacks, and knee hikes, etc about 10 minutes. Looks funny, but it works. Next time your on a trip give it a try.

The bucking problem was fixed by two things the o2 sensor, and a good used air flow meter, but fixed the other things I found doing the ground checks, tune up, ecu connector checks. There can be a lot of little things wrong with a vehicle that has 200,000 plus miles.

Next step the front end, it was acting wierd. Brakes, and ball joints, made themselves known on the trip.

Any advice as to what to look out for in the front end would be appreciated. I will be refering to the list member who did the wonderfull post on doing ball joints the other week.

Happy driving

Eric
