"got my suction pump that i use on my boat and sucked the oil out thru the dip stick tube."

When I had my Mercedes diesel for the last year or so (before it got totaled), I learned that this is a very common practice among MB owners. There are special devices that are sold specifically for this. It seemed like more people used these than drained the oil via the drain plug. I did it twice but used the plug and a drain pan like I always have done.

But it is useful to remember that this can be done in case a bolt ever strips and can't be removed when an oil change is needed.
